Anyone know a "secret ingredient" to put into chili?

    Seriously, have you tried blending (to taste and proportioned to the rest of your recipe) chili powder, cayenne pepper and crushed red pepper flakes, and a dash of horseradish and paprika--to bring out the flavor?

  • this is how i amke my chili.. hamburger meat chili/kidney beans flavor and peppers bell and hot and then salt and pepper depending how spicy i want it... i like it have a little bit of a kick but not too much because my hubby doesnt like hot stuff

  • cinnamon makes a difference, I really love its flavor in chili. A friend of mine even used some bear, and it turned out great.

  • I use smoked paprika in mine. Also, a touch of brown sugar. It won me a chili cook off :)

  • Next time I make chili, I'll try a little cinnamon...
    I make my chili from scratch...my favorite ingredient is Black Beans!! I always use kidney and black beans, but sometimes add a different bean - like Anasazi. Recently I have been using Hot sausage instead of ground beef/chuck, which adds a kick.
