Credit card/debit card hacking

This is a follow up to my previous question about card hacking.

I just found out that there was a security breach a few months ago at Netflix, PayPal, and Directv. The charge sometimes comes in as AMERISHOP.NET and is usually between 2 and 7 dollars then they charge your account for hundreds. My charges were for about $2 the first time then the big charge. The charges were to a hotel in Saudi Arabia and one in Autstralia. I wish the companies involved would have made this public since I never heard about it until now. I use both Paypal and Directv each month.

  • Anytime you use your debit/credit card, you run the risk of fraud. That is common sense. You should always monitor your records closely and make sure everything adds up. It can happen online or it can happen in a restaurant. You never know.

  • I had that happen with me when I used paypal a few months ago. I saw a transaction for $376 from my checking. I checked my paypal acct and saw it was in foreign funds. I filed a fraud report and the money was back in my checking account a few days later. Needless to say, I stopped my paypal account and cancelled my checking account and opened a new one.
