8 lb beef roast - how long?

How long would you cook a 8 lb beef roast? And at what temp?

  • I cook mine in my Crock Pot, after lightly browning it first. Usually takes 6-8 hours on Low. In the oven, I have no idea though. Google.

  • I found this:

    For rare, cook roast 15 minutes per pound, so an 8 pound roast would cook for two (2) hours at 350 degrees. For medium, cook roast for 20 minutes per pound at the same temperature, 350 degrees which would be two (2) hours and forty (40) minutes.

    You can uncover it to brown it for the last 15 minutes, but you don't have to do this.

  • u don't need to cover it,add plenty of water,it is 15 minutes per pound. My mom made these all the time and they turned out great!!!!

  • If I was cooking it, Id cook it at 350 for about 2 hours and id get a nice, rare in the middle roast. 2 1/2 hours for barely any pink in the center and 2 hour 45 min for well done.
