Do you soak your chicken before frying it?

Like in a salt brine or buttermilk or regular milk? I keep seeing recipes that call for soaking it in milk. What will milk do for it? Make it moist or give it some extra flavor?

  • The buttermilk makes it tender and better for breading especially for fried chicken. My grandmother made the best fried chicken and biscuits I have ever had! I understand I am second to hers. I make it the same way as she did.

  • I don't, but I only fry breasts cut into strips. It cooks evenly and only takes a few minutes. I always season the chicken before breading it.

  • I just rinse it well and prepare because the meat soaks up water and is not as good.
