What to do with baby clothes?

I have heaps of baby clothes and I don't want to sell them because not only do I know I won't get much for them, but I'd rather see them go to someone who can really use them. I don't want to post them on any website because I don't want greedy people who don't really NEED them taking them. Anybody have any good ideas on where to take them? Do shelters or somebody use them? I know there's Salvation Army and stuff too but I'd just much rather see them go to a real needy family. Ideas?

  • Women's shelters are a great place to take them. Google shelters in your area, and I'm sure they'll gladly take them off your hands.

  • both of those answers are great. another idea is your local NICU at your hospital. there are a lot of families who can't afford clothes and the hospital will make sure the baby is clothed while it stays with them. sometimes they send clothes home with those families...just an idea

  • There are pregnancy centers, and women battered centers, just look for them in your area. Maybe you could call someone from the local Children's Services department, talk to a case worker who may know a family in need, or a local church! I hope this helps and gives you lots of ideas!

  • A lot of churches will take them to give to needy people.

  • Those are wonderful suggestions above, or ask a doula as well, she will know many different charities. I can think of 5 local ones off the top of my head (battered women, teen mother's home, NICU, Ronald McDonald, local birthing center's clothing drive)
