/how much do they think your baby weighs?

They think mine is around 3 lbs, I'm 28 weeks. does that sound right? My boy was 8lbs 10oz and they said she probably won't be that big. I thought 3 lbs is big for now, so how do they think she won't be that big? Any thoughts?

  • I don't fully trust the ultrasound measurements, they said my baby was going to weigh 9 - 10 pounds. She weighed 7 lbs, 5 oz when she was born.

  • Oh and they said mine was about 3 1/2 lbs at 29 weeks. That is big for how far along you are. Yes U/S can be off. So I dont think you should really go by that. Your baby will be fine.

  • It doesn't really matter and varies a LOT. At this stage, your baby is still just developing...during the last few weeks is when s/he'll start putting on that baby fat. :)

At 40 weeks, they told me my son was about 7 1/2 to 8 pounds and average size...three days later, when he came out, he was 9 pounds 4 ounces and 23 inches long! They can only guess...and sometimes not very well! :)

  • Yes. The ultrasound is definitely JUST an estimate. My son was born premature, and the did an ultrasound when they admitted me to the hospital. It said he was 4lbs 5 oz., but when he was born he weighted 5lbs 11oz - thankfully!

  • Ultrasound is just an estimate, it estimated my daughter Jacklyn at 7.5 she weighed 8.15
They estimated Jaylene at 9.0 she was 10.5.
