  • Well I can't break down the whole thing for you as it has been going on for 38+ years. I can tell you whats going on right now is Israel sent in ground troups into Gaza City to stop the constant rockets the Hamas (extreme terrorist group that resides in Gaza) were constantly sending into South Israel, It was turning into an everyday occurance and Israel decided it was time for them to put an end to it. In the end Israel will do no good as the Hamas are a group that lives to kill. and they will not give in. Theres more to it, thats just the quick fast breakdown.

  • There was question asked about this last night. Take a look at that one.

As for who started it and who's at fault... when two kids start fighting in the back seat, is there usually only one at fault? Or did one do something that provoked a bigger response from the other, which made the first one do something bigger still, etc. etc. etc. There is usually no way to assign blame in messes like this.

    VERY good website.

The second link is to the 1 minute overview. For every Israeli source, they give a Palestinian one. Very balanced.

  • The United Nations started it in 1947 when they voted to partition Palestine into Jewish and Arab sectors.  The fighting began immediately and and they have been fighting ever since.

  • As Beeky said, following WWII the UN designated part of the area of Palestine into the nation of Israel. The Palestinians living there at the time did not necessarily agree with the decision. There has been violence on both sides ever since. I don't know that it's possible to assign 'blame' or to say who is at fault in this kind of situation... basically it's a dispute over land where both sides feel they hold a valid claim to the area and are willing to commit violence over it.
