Potty Training

I just started to potty train my 18 month old son any good start out advice?

  • Since he is so young, make sure you stay close to home, don't sign him up for too many classes or take him on long shopping trips. Take him often and don't expect him to get himself to the potty without your help or reminder for at least a year.
    Skip the pull-ups. Go with undies or bare-bottom.
    Teach him to pee sitting down. It is a normal and natural reaction that our body turns to follow our eyes (motorcycle riders know this really well!). As he is standing in front of the potty, he will get bored and he will look around the bathroom. His pee will follow his eyes... all over the bathroom. Let him get the hang of the whole "going in the potty" thing first. Wait until he asks to learn to go standing up and save yourself a lot of mess.
