  • very much so but I don't really have a problem with it, lots of companies make a fortune living off the misery of others.

  • Since many governments can't afford to run their own prison system and people continue to break the law, what SHOULD be done?

  • Why is it wrong to make money off taking care of people who have done wrong themselves?

  • Private companies frequently do a better job for less money. So what if they make a profit? Are you going to blame people who take jobs as prison guards for taking a salary? What about police officers? Firefighters? All those jobs deal with the misery of others.

  • Private companies do not do a better job for less money. Example- the postal system is privatized and they keep rasiing the costs almost yearly.

Not all people in prison have done wrong- some have VERY bad luck. There has been multitudes of innocent people convicted of crimes they did not commit.

  • It is not up to the prison system to decide who is guilty and who is innocent.

If reformation is possible, certainly that is the goal. My point is - why are you upset about a reasonable profit? If the inmates are cared for in a decent way and housed securely and safely - why NOT make some money at the same time?

It seems that there is either more to this question or you have a grudge.

Either way...........................making money is not, in and of itself, something to be ridiculed.
