What do you think of the United States Border Patrol?

I live in TX so, secure borders are an issue for me. I think that the border patrol officers have a really tough job. Confounded by the fact that they are constantly given mixed messages (orders). What the state tells them to do & what the federal government mandates can be very different at times. They want to keep our country safe and do the best job possible but, in a lot of ways, their hands are tied.

I could never live in TX 'cuz the issue would drive me sooooooooo insane. I think the border patrol needs more training, funds, manpower, and probably a total overhaul. People creeping in and taking low paying jobs while our own friends cannot feed their kids sickens me. there's proper avenues to come work here.

I think they have a crazy job to deal with but I sure am glad they deal with it. As someone who is trying to immigrate from Canada to Texas to marry my fiance... I'm glad they have people like that who work hard to keep places safe and to keep illegals out when there are those of us who are trying to do it the RIGHT way.

It took my mom ten years to become a citizen and countless amounts of money. She did it right because all she ever gave us was honor and the ability to work hard and earning what we get. The border patrol has a hard job because there is not enough money and not enough people willing to step up to the plate to do the right thing.

Hate them because of a very negative experience I had with one. My dad was a US Customs agent for nearly 30 years...the REAL border patrol.

I think until we have a federal government that is willing to uphold the immigration laws of this country, the Border Patrol is damned if they do their job and damned if they don't.  I do not have an issue with funding the Border Patrol, but I do have an issue with our federal Justice department suing states for making laws to do the federal government's job for them.  I find it simply amazing how many places our governments step over dollars to pick up dimes.

I have to agree with 3libras and QuinnMae on this one.

Border patrol should be easy, if your not American you don't get threw. If you try to climb the fence or run thru them you get SHOT. I'm not just talking about Mexican nationals.
