My 18th month old will not go to bed....

without being rocked. At about 12 months, we would lay her down in her crib with some lullabies and she would be out. But that only last about 3 months. Now, I rock her to sleep and she has been waking up a lot at night. Any suggestions?

  • You need to teach her to put herself to sleep. Try limiting the time you do this with her, at bed time. If you normally wait until she is asleep, then start out by cutting time off. Maybe if it normally takes you 20 minutes, then start by backing down to 15, then 10 and so on. Tell her she is a big girl. Make sure all of your nighttime routine is followed. Try to use the rocking chair at other times, so she doesn't feel like she is losing this special time with you. Be firm. You will both have to relearn how to do this! Good luck
