Moms of Special needs kiddos do you have trouble balancing your "normal" friends with your "special" friends

I some times feel like I have to keep my friends seperate depending if they have kiddos with special needs or not. It is like I have seperated my life into my friends with kids like my older son and parents of kids with Down Syndrome. Does this sound insane?

  • That's easy! I don't have any "normal" friends...I guess their all afraid of "catching" autism?! The only friends I have are other moms of special needs children...we don't judge one another, we all understand, and can offer respect and common courtesy as well as a genuine helping hand...I wish the normal moms were more me their precious snowflakes are all they're cracked up to be...just wait until the teenage years!

  • All of my normal friends slowly disappeared after finding out my son has autism. I guess they couldnt handle all the tantrums and my busy schedule. So I wouls feel blessed if your normal friends are still around.
