  • My boy started at 4 when he started preschool. We worked on it a little bit before, and he did somewhat ok. He is 4 and half now, and he loves writing. He will ask us to write a word and he'll copy it.

  • The short form or the long form? LOL - his short form is JP - so he's been able to "spell" it for as long as he's been able to say it. He just started writing it this week (he's 3 1/2), though. I haven't even tried on the full name yet.

  • My 4 yr old knew how to spell his name around 2 1/2, but my 3 yr old still doesn't know how. Though she can recognize it if she sees it most of the time (as well as recognize her brothers name)

  • My DD has been able to spell her own name out on paper for about 4 or 5 months now. She'll be 3 1/2 in February.
