Female poodle

I have a female poodle which is 1 year old. When will she start having periods? I have never seen her hunch anything either-which I'm glad-LOL- but when do they start all this?

  • usually around 4-6 months.I would talk to your vet to make sure there are no probs w/her reproductive organs.Good luck!

  • Some females are late bloomers. All of my girls(Yorkies and a Shih Tzu) were 9 months to 14 months old when they had their 1st seasons. She may have had a silent heat or maybe she had a heat and she was very clean about it so it wasn't noticed.

  • It depends on the dog. If you go ahead and get her spayed now, you won't have to worry about it.

  • Some "girls" come in heat and you'll never know it....but if you don't plan on breeding, please get her spayed.
