Arugala

Does arugula cook down like spinach? I like to cook spinach with olive oil and garlic and add it to pasta. The store didn't have any spinach so I got arugula instead.

  • Any leafy green will cook down. I've never had it, but it should be fine.

  • yes, but it is much stronger tasting than spinach. It has been described a peppery, but I find it to be a bit bitter if overcooked.

  • It does wilt like spinach, but be careful...arugula is a strong flavored plant, and when you cook it, it will be even strong. It has a bitter, pepper bite to it. You can mix it with other greens, or make a salad with it, as it is delicious raw.
