The poop question lol...but seriously help!

My son's 7 months old, he's been eating solids (stage 1) since 5 1/2 months. Just over the past week not quite 2 weeks, he's been pooping different but hasn't have any food's that he wasn't eating before. They seem to be darker, and a lot less then before too. a little bit, some times 2x a day..but never much each time, and it seems to be harder then before...not loose and messy like week's ago. Is this normal? He still eat's the same amount of formula..only thing "new" since his poop has changed is oat meal...but I thought that would make him poop more if anything, not less. Can you tell me, are these bowel movements pretty normal??

  • We skipped cereal all together. Its not necessary. It was horrible for my daughter, lots of gas and constipation. I would be willing to bet its the oatmeal. Give him some prunes or prune juice. It will help :).

  • He might be a little constipated. Is he cutting a tooth? That can sometimes make a baby get diareah or constipation.

  • Nope no teeth yet...I really don't see a huge difference in him, so I don't know if he's teething yet.

  • They say poop changes and as long as he's passing gas or pooping some he's not constipated. You could always try some baby juice if you are worried that always helps my lil one. I give her one of those small gerber bottle which i think is like 4oz

  • Whenever my daughter has problems going I give her some Gerbers baby applejuice. It works everytime since apples are a natural laxative. Good luck!

  • It might be getting a little harder from the extra iron he's getting in the cereal. I used to make the cereal with juice and it seemed to help. Good luck mama!
