  • If you enjoy children, you could consider babysitting a few, turn a hobby into a business, secret shopping is fun and really does exist, the bigger the area you live, the more opportunities there are. Consider errand running for shut ins, or people that just don't have time to pick up their dry cleaning or groceries, maid services usually do well, especially this time of year.

  • I'm curious as to why you would say that Melaleuca is not "something that I can to that is real and allow me to replace my current income so that I can be home with my family.... " since that is exactly what so many people do...

Anyway, as far as things to do from home...I did write a blog about what to look out for, but I'm afraid if I post the link, this will be deleted. Basically, there are very few opportunities for real residual income. You can invest in stocks that pay dividends...you can do as we have in the past and currently are getting out of and own buildings and rent them out, but it is a PAIN IN THE BUTT!

There are "home call-center-type" jobs, where you get inbound service calls but you CAN NOT have your children in the background.

Taking in children is an option that many people go for, but since you have another job, not one that I would recommend.

There are many "opportunities" out there, (continued)

  • (continued) but many of them are simply the "next greatest thing" that has been created by the same people who destroyed the dreams of hundreds and thousands of people with their LAST "next greatest thing".

  • Take a look into It Works. In a single month, I replaced what I was earning with Scentsy which I have been doing over a year. My upline has been in for 5 months and she hit triple diamond which is an average of 10k a month (and yes, her pay check was in that area lol). My sister has been in for 4 months and hit double diamond. It's an incredible product! I've helped people lose over 30 inches in my month in the business. It's been incredible.

  • Do you have a former employer you could work for remotely?
You can search for jobs that match you skill set and have a telecommute option.
If you have a computer with high speed internet & Microsoft Office Pro & have at least intermediate MS Office skills, you should be able to find work as a virtual assistant (VA). For more information, go to www.ivaa.org, www.iavoa.com, www.vanetworking.com ..
Do you have a skill or experience that you can turn into a home based business? I have a friend who makes children's hair accessories in her basement & sells them to boutiques around the Midwest. My husband runs a handyman business from our home. I work from home with two lines of business; I do freelance bookkeeping & business organization (along with small business marketing and medical billing), I also do career and job search coaching.

  • Home based businesses (such as Melaleuca, Ameriplan, etc.) are real, but not for everybody, so if you look into others, be sure it's something you can use yourself and feel comfortable/confident in promoting. One thing to remember though is when it comes to home based businesses, they are not meant to be a quick fix, but rather something to build long term, stable, sometimes residual income. There are a lot of factors that should go into your thought process of picking one such as:
-How many years the company has been in business - it takes a good 5-7 years for a company to become stable.
-Consumable products that are IN DEMAND and COMPETITIVELY PRICED.
-Does it MAKE SENSE to be a customer? There should be no new money being spent to stay active, just a simple redirection of money.
-Team: What kind of leadership will you receive? What kind of training?
