Preliminary Test Results....

I am going to the dr. tomorrow for these results from an amnio I had done last week. This was to check if my baby has downs or not. What does Preliminary results mean, and exactly how much will they be able to tell me?

  • Itll just be what the tests are indicating so far and based on what they have gotten up to when you go in. Prelim tests usually are right but they are called prelim for a reason. Until they are complete you wont be sure of what they say and even then they arent always right. They told my friend her baby was down and she wasnt.

  • the test for ds is not very exact. It gives you a % chance your baby might have it. Prelim results are usually early results from the lab that could change once they finish all the tests, but they usually stay the same.

  • Good luck, I hope everything goes well for you. I guess they will show you if something is wrong/right. Its like an impression, not final findings.

  • They told me the same thing with my first son. Your baby will be fine. How many weeks are you?
