What is the appropriate age to begin discipline such as time out? My 16 month old has started to act out a bit and I'm not sure how to handle it?

  • You can go ahead and start time outs now. I would have him sit in time out for a little over a minute. They say one minute for each year of your chil's age.

  • I would start only if you need a time out from the situation, or if you cannot divert his attention else where. He/she starts to truly understand time outs when he/she is two.

  • We started using the SuperNanny method of time out when my daughter was 15mos old, it has worked wonders!!! If you need more info let me know!
