Are canned foods really okay to give your toddler?

I give my son a lot of canned vegetables...is this okay? I usually buy the ones with low sodium or no sodium...if available...I just can't afford to buy many fresh vegetables...

  • I sure as heck hope so LOL :) I'm busy and don't have the time every day to cook fresh veggies.

I do about 1/2 canned, 1/2 frozen. with the occasional fresh veggie...

  • My kids tear up canned veggies. I do not see any reason they would not be okay.

  • You're feeding them vegetables. It's okay if it's canned, and it's great you go for the low sodium kind. :)

  • I would live off canned green beans if I could....
And Mady would be right by my side, I'm sure!

  • Fresh is best but. . . I usually buy frozen (love dollar days) especially peas and carrots. I prefer canned green beans and peaches and pears if I can find them in juice and not syrup.

  • Yes. Just keep buying the low or no salt versions. For the fruits, buy the ones packed in fruit juice instead of syrup.

  • My daughter LOVES the whole baby carrots and the whole greenbean canned veggies. Low or no sodium or added salt whenever possible. They were awesome finger foods when she was learning to feed herself. Just firm enough for her to pick-up, and just mushy enough for her to chew up completely.
