Obama's warns: that he will not accept earmarks in the Stimulus bill.

If Obama is so opposed to pork-barrel spending, why did he, as a senator, support adding $180 billion in pork to the $700 billion bailout bill?

Who thinks he will **change** and veto anything with pork? If he doesn't, does this make him just another politician?

  • If it has pork and he signs it, I think that would be going against his word and would discredit his entire Mantra of CHANGE. Then, yes, he would be just another politician. I think he will see it was easier to criticize Bush when you are sitting on the OTHER side of the Oval Office Desk.

  • I voted for him and have always thought he was just another politician. One has to compromise a lot to get to his position.

We just have to wait and see.

  • It wouldn't suprise me. There are quite a few Americans out there that bought his "Change" marketing campaign, when it was just that... All Marketing.

  • The man said whatever he needed to sugar coat to get into office, now that he has accomplished that mission we are stuck with him whether we like what he does or not. Of course we would have to have half a brain to not see that he is just another politician.

  • i don't recall him promising to veto anything with pork in it.
i do recall mccain promising that.

in regards to the bailout, i think most lawmakers accepted certain terms in order to get the bill passed on time because they sensd the urgency of the matter. i don't think it speaks to his personal opinion on earkmarks.

  • You are a hoot. Yes, if he does allow earmarks THEN he will have lied. Funny though, he still isn't even President yet, and I do believe him until he doesn't do it, rather than choose to hang him ahead of time.

Not trying to annoy you, but aren't you sort of cutting off your nose to spite your face? Don't you want him to succeed? Because if he does, you do.

  • fiveofakind2........there is NO WAY Obama will succeed with not only his campaign rhetoric and snake tongue lies, nor by his political record, but simply by what he is presently proposing!! NO WAY! What he has done, said and is doing is NOT a successful outcome! As for the OP, Obama is NOT change, if you listened to his words and looked at his record they not only contradicted, they were polar opposites! He is doing exactly as his record shows, NOT what he said he'd do! He was and is full of bs! He'll pork belly spend us and bailout us into a depression! Welcome to the change Obama was really wanting.....from Capitalism to Socialism!
