  • you could contact an attorney who specializes in this matter.
i've also been told you could talk to you obgyn's office..they might know more than you think about newborn-adoptions.

  • An adoption attorney is a good start. That's the method we used for both of our domestic infant adoptions. They'll be able to refer you to a social worker to do your home study. Or you could start with a social worker that can refer you to local adoption attorneys.

  • You may have a longer wait if you specifically want one sex or the other. Your wait will be shorter if you are open to other races (as you said) or health issues. We adopted both of our children as infants with the help of Catholic Charities. Our DD came home from the hospital with us, and DS came home to us at 4 weeks old (because he had been taken from the hospital by CPS and placed in a foster home at first). Both kids were significantly drug-exposed, and both are healthy. DD has had some behavioral issues and DS has some developmental issues, mainly in speech.

You should learn all you can about the various routes to adopting domestically - foster-adopt, private with an agency, private with an adoption attorney, etc. Be prepared for lots of intrusive questions and a mountain of paperwork. It's all worth it in the end, though. Best of luck to you!

  • You want an infant girl preferably white? That will cost you about $50 grand and your soul. But I hear they have 7 year old black boys in the bargain big with a ticket to heaven.
