Is she progressing well for her age?

My daughter will be six months on the 18th. We bought her several toys for Christmas but she isn't interested in them at all. Also she was starting to bable by saying Dada and la la la la, but now she's stopped. She rolls over front to back very seldom and isn't interested in crawling at all. She just lays her head on the floor and whines/cries. I just worry that maybe I'm not doing enough with her to make her active. Am I doing anything wrong?

  • All children develop differently. My daughter wasn't into toys at all nor could she roll at that age. She crawled at 9 months as well. I wouldn't worry, there is no definite age for crawling, etc.

  • Carmela is 8 months now but when she was your daughters age she pretty much acted the same way. I thought by 6 mos she would be crawling but she just started about 2 weeks ago & now she is cruisin!!! Same thing w/ the toys, she just now geting interested in some of her toys but her attention isn't focused on one thing....she's all over the place!!

  • Also, she's just now starting to hold her own bottle. I've tried to give her a sippy cup, but it seems like she can't suck hard enough to get out anything. Is she supposed to be using one by now?

  • no. i wouldn't even push the holding her own bottle thing either, its really un important, unless she wants to do it. my dd was breastfed and didn't get into a sippy until she was 10 months old.

  • leave the sippy cup in the cupboard!!! she sounds fine!!! maybe she would like more "live" interaction with people... they're all different. maybe she would like toys that play music, or more certain colors... but you should have no worries, it sounds normal enough... all babies are different!!!!
