pelvic bone spliting???

so some girl in my child birth classes said her pelvic bone was spliting
i did not want to sound stupid so i did not ask
but its been bothering me wut
does it mean when ur pelvic bone splits

  • The hormone, Relaxin, will help bones to spread apart. This is meant for the pelvic bones, but happens all over. Baby can better fit through these bones in childbirth, it is a normal part of pregnancy.

  • She could also be talking about symphysis pubis dysfunction.

  • She could have also been referring to pubis symphysis diastasis. Some pelvic pain and widening are normal during pregnancy, but sometimes it can become excessive, causing long-term damage. I have been having lots of trouble with this. This may end up being my last baby. :(
