  • BabyCenter has the best developmental charts. The charts show what "most" babies this age can do, what most babies this age are just starting to learn, and what a few babies this age may be learning to do.

But remember, just because your baby does thinks ahead of the curve doesn't mean he's gifted. "Gifted" usually can't be decided on until school starts and things even out between kids.
And don't sweat it if your child falls a little bit behind. Missing a couple things is not cause for alarm. But look for patterns and be sure to bring up any concerns to his doctor.

  • My 5 month old son can roll over front to back and back to front, can push himself up on his arms when lying on his tummy, can stand up straight and put all his weigh on his legs when being held up, LOVES to bounce, can smile and giggle and squeal, plays with his hands and feet, can reach for and grab/pick up things, can sit himself up when elevated but cant stay up very long, can hold his own bottle for a few seconds (when he wants to!) and does new things almost everyday!
