How much do you save?

How much do you have in savings? We have $100. Been as low as $20 in the past. Sucks I know, but better than nothing.

  • As of today (payday is Thursday, but I still have bills to pay, too) we have about $3000 in the bank. It's not seperated out into a "savings acct"... but we are about to open one to keep it seperated better.

I also have another $2300 in "my stash". I'm saving up for something.

  • Savings? What is savings - does having a little left over after the bills and everything else is paid count?

  • We have $25 but only because that's what needs to be in there for the savings account to stay open. I have three kids and we live pretty much paycheck to paycheck. When we do manage to save a little, something either happens with the car or the house and POOF! there it goes.

  • We save about $200-$600 a month. We pay the bills, buy groceries and put gas in the car and then we put 1/2 of whatever is left in to savings. Sometimes that's $100 a paycheck (leaving us $100 for 2 weeks) and sometimes that's $250-$300 a paycheck (leaving us $250-$300 for 2 weeks). If we have less than $150 for 2 weeks to start with we don't put 1/2 in to savings.

Right now we have $4,000. We have been saving up for a trip to see my son and his wife when they return from Iraq since last June when we got home from a vacation to NY/NJ. Once they come home, there won't be much left. We have 5 plane tickets to buy, a rental car for a week, a hotel room for a week and food. But it'll be worth every dime spent. When we get back we'll start saving again, we're planning a trip to NY/NJ next Dec..
