  • I loved this question.  Before I had children I use to think I am never going to be like my mom.  I am going to be such a better mom than my mom was to me.  I am sure my mom use to think she was going to be a better mom than her mom.  I definitally have learned to parent differently than my mom parented.  However it took me until I had teenagers to appreciate my mom so much more!!

  • I know I am. I have been home for my kids which is something she was unable to do. I have a more open line of communication with my teens then my mom did with me. I am better educated as a parent on early and adolescent development then she ever was. I am more active in their lives and extra curricular activities and on and on.

  • Definetly! I learned from my mom's mistakes. Everything my mom put me through I don't want my son going threw none of that. She always screamed at me and I hated that, so I always try not to scream at my son at all.

  • YES! OMGosh! YES! I am such a better mother than my mom! I at least TALK to my kids and turn the tv OFF every now and then to read to them and play with them.. All I ever got from my mom was "Leave me alone I'm watching my show" or "I can't stand you kids!"
    I actually LOVE my kids!

  • I think in some areas I am, and in some areas I'm not. She's a fantastic mom though, so if I'm half as good as her then I'm doing pretty damn good.

  • id like to think daughters only ask me again in 10-12 do know my mom has more patience than me...but...i know that im gonna be able to have open communication with my daughter, not like me and my mom,.we never talked about "real" life stuff..and im gonna make sure me and my daughter can talk openly..without judging..and without me telling her NO NO NO all the time like my mom did with me

  • No, she is good, really good. She did seem a little busy for me, I was her last, but some things are out of her control.

  • I KNOW I'm a better mom than she was.

    I don't beat my kids.
I don't pick them up from the floor by their hair.
I don't hit them with wooden spoons, belts, fly swatters, yard sticks, etc.
I don't tell them they do nothing but lie all the time and I can't believe anything they say.
I don't tell them they never do anything right and never finish anything they start.
I don't tell them to stop stuttering and "shut up until you can talk right".

    I could go on....but, yeah, I'm better.
