Should the government really be insisting on *PROVIDING* abortions with or without religion?

So we should abide by all government regulations, but really is killing a baby really the business the government should be part of?

At the end of the day is it a good idea to alienate an entire religion that helps the poor and relives the government of that responsibility? You shut down Catholic hospitals it will shut down health care for 95% of the ppl in this area. Is an abortion and BC really worth losing the Churches help?

is it really the same issues as a vegetarian meal? I mean they aren't forced to  provide speical meals for certain ppl why should they force some ppl to provide abortions?

  • Kristi's having another shitty day. You are at least consistent. If you are as nasty in real life as you portray yourself on here, I can fully understand your stances. So are you always in a shitty mood because your life sucks so bad, or could it be that the shitty attitude is what makes the shitty life and then comes the shitty posts? Food for thought

  • Funny I don't recall the government saying we had to get abortions....or even saying it's a good idea. I do know however that they have worked in some states to making them available to those who DO want one, whether for personal or medical reasons. If catholic hospitals do not wish to provide services where their's is the only medical facility for some distance, perhaps they should get out of the business of medical care which accepts government funding and stick to the churches.

    *********************************************************************
Yes. It's not so much about personal morality and placing judgement upon the patients, as it should be about providing the best medical care, with ALL options to the patients.
If an organization cannot hack that, then I agree they shouldn't be in the business.
    It's about HEALTHCARE, not religion.

  • It had to do with government mandating that even catholic run hospitals (which receive government funding and reimbursement) provide services to it's patients such as BC

seems pretty cut & dry now. thank you for catching me up lol soo yeah... the govt is telling the catholic churches, that they provide funding to, to disperse birth control to patients, and this becomes a personal slam against religion. Gotcha :)

Well of course...Obviously anything that doesn't cater to religion is a slam against it....DUH...it's just the same metnality that's been apparent in these forums for the past 4 years no matter what screen name is being used. If you're not with the religious aspect trying to enforce their views and ways of life upon the general public you must be attacking them. There is no "middle gorund". ****Extreme sarcasm for those that obviously need a disclaimer***

because that's what happens when you allow an outside source to pay your bills. you give them the rights to make decisions for your business.

    I thoght we covered this....
    1) They accept government funding.
    2) Not every one is Catholic, even if they go to the large "Catholic Hospital" which ran out the competition or bought them out.
    3) Catholic Hospitals are NOT Churches! If they don't want to provide HEALTHCARE to their Patients they can get out of the HEALTHCARE industry and YES BC and in some cases Abortions are considered to be HEALTHCARE what they cannot do is enforce their religious practices (which belong in a church) on their patients (who seek care at a hospital)

  • i know of a catholic hospital in my area that does not allow epidurals or any pain meds for childbirth, and probably not abortions or BC either. they have every right to enforce these rules because THEY are privately funded.
