Can you breastfeed while pregnant?

My husband and I were shocked to find out that we're pregnant with our second, despite our use of contaceptives. My little guy is only 7 months, and I was planning to breastfeed until at least a year. My milk hasn't been effected yet, but I'm wondering if it will be possible/safe to breastfeed throughout the pregnancy?

  • You can, but sometimes, pregnancy affects the flavor in a way that the nursing baby doesn't like it anymore. There is a small risk of nursing bringing on contractions, but it is generally considered safe. Just make sure you are eating enough to support both kids, and taking your prenatal vitamins, and drinking lots of water. Congrats on your new pregnancy!
