  • Yes, you can. Baking soda as your laundry detergent and vinegar as your fabric softener. I prefer to use homemade laundry soap and vinegar but what your asking is fine, as well.

  • Yes, but I like homemade laudry soap with borax, baking soda, and grated castille soap a little better. You can make your own fabric softener with baking soda, vinegar, and any essential oil that you like. I prefer lavender. One caveat, Do not place the lid on your baking soda/vinegar mixture until all the gasses are released or you will have a fabric softener volcano on your hands.

  • Baking soda will remove odors, but it isn't soap. Soap is what removes dirt. You can wash your clothes with just the baking soda, but only the surface dirt is really going to rinse off. The home made detergent others mentioned costs only pennies per load, takes just a few minutes to mix up, and does an excellent job of really cleaning dirty laundry.
