Anyone have any quick inexpensive recipes for a family of 6?

  • 2 large cans of tomato sauce
    3 uncle bens rice packets
    1 lb. lean Hamburger
    add 1 tablespoon of each to tomato sauce:
    table salt
    onion power (not cut up or dices..use power or onion salt only!!
    garlic power or salt
    Caynne pepper (depends if you like hot ot not....can add or subtract amount)
    tyme
    Allow tomato sauce to simmer.
    cook (fry) hamburger and add to sauce after draining all oil
    cook rice and add to sauce
    stir all ingred. and allow to sit for 10 minutes
    This is great for winter or summer and I change up the ingred. often
    I make the sauce the same way but add stew meat and seashell mac's.
    I have used the sauce on Chicken, fish and steak. it has so many difeerent way to use it.....I even use the sauce as a soup at times.

  • I would double both of these recipes (each serves 4)

    Recipe #1

    2 bonesless chicken breasts
    1 pkg cream cheese
    16 oz bottle Italian dressing
    2 pkgs boil in bag rice Chicken broth (if necessary)


    Put chicken, cream cheese & italian dressing in a crock pot on high for 4 hours. Shred the chicken in the crockpot as it cooks (like pulled pork). If it is too thick, add chicken broth to it. Serve over cooked rice.



    Recipe #2

    Pkg Ground Beef (or turkey)
    1pkg Liption onion soup mix
    2 pkgs boil in bag rice

    Brown beef (or turkey - if using turkey add 2 T Worcester sauce to give it a beef flavor). Once browned, drain if necessary and add the liption onion soup mix. Mix well into beef. Cook rice and add together with beef mixture.

    If your family has big eaters, just add a salad to the meal or some rolls.

    Home-made Chili Tacos

    Tacos $2
    Chili with Beans in can (3 for $5, sale)
    Lettuce (sliced thinly)
    Sour Cream ($2, sale)
    Chunky Salsa ($3, sale)
    Shredded Mexican Cheese (you can also buy a slice of cheese then shred it youself) ($3, sale)

    Inexpensive, quick to prepare, and good too!

  • Cheeseburger Casserole

    fry up your ground meat and drain
    mix in Cheddar Cheese Soup (out of a can)
    salt and pepper to taste
    top with french fries

    Bake 350 for 40 mins or until the fries are brown and crispy. It's very good.

    For a family of six you might need 3 lbs of hamburger, 2 cans of soup and 2 bags of fries. Enjoy!

  • Healthy Chicken and Noodles:

    3-4 chicken breasts, boiled and shredded into pieces
    1 can chicken broth
    2 cans cream of chicken soup
    5 chicken boullion cubes
    1 bag "no yolks" egg noodles
    salt and white pepper

    1. Boil chick in half pot of water. remove from water and shred,set aside.
    2. Add can of broth, 2 cans crm chick, and 5 bouillon cubes to the pot of the water chick cooked in.
    3. Put shredded chick into pot and cook for 10-15 minutes on med/high heat.
    4. Add noodles and cook until noodles are tender and enlarged.
    5. add salt to taste and white pepper--its done! Makes a huge pot-you'll even have leftovers!

    2lbs groundbeef
    brown gravey
    2 cans corn (or another liked veggie)
    instant mashed potatoes

    brown the ground beef, drain and rinse in cold water if really greesy
    make mashed potatoes (6-8 servings)
    cook canned corn
    remove from heat
    add brown gravey (to your taste) to the cooked beef
    put beef in bottem of a pot, then add the corn, and finally the mashed potatoes (in layers not mixed)
    put in oven at 350 until potatoe top is lightly cooked

    dig in deep and get a little bit of everything in each serving.
    its a very filling dish and you would probably have left overs!
    the potatoes will taste a little dry but thats what the gravey is in the ground beef for!
    and you added a veggie!!!!!!!
