  • No. It should be a national day of service! If you are looking for somewhere to volunteer, this is a great resource:  http://www.volunteermatch.org/

Or, you and your children can pick up garbage at a park, visit a nursing home, stock shelve at a food pantry, bring old toys/clothes/books to a shelter, etc.

  • No. It's a national holiday! The make up days need to be days that aren't actual holidays (the extra days around president's day, extra days around easter, etc.)

  • Sounds like when va beach schools made January 19, 2009 (obamas inauguration) a snow day and the kids had to make it up on Presidents day. There was the potential for snow but the skies were blue and sunny. A lot of parents were rightfully pissed because they don't get mlk off, made plans for a 3 day weekend, but had to cancel over a bogus snow day.

  • BLACK PEOPLE DAY!!!! YEAH BOI!!!!

the school district should use it as how they see fit. If it's gonna be called a national holiday then all schools should be closed like for Christmas or whatever. but if it's not then well....the schools make the rules and they need to be followed.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a United States federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around the time of King's birthday, January 15.

Its not just a black day LadyBug. He fought for poor white people too.
