Health insurance for your college student

My children are covered under the Texas CHIPS insurance.
BUT my oldest will be going to college out of state in Aug.
What are some options for health insurance for her?
I don't want to send her out of state or off to college without some sort of medical insurance.
Any suggestions?
She's already been accepted into this college and we're working on financial aide. Taking a trip there in March to check out the school. BUT I'm trying to think ahead and get stuff done.
Thanks

  • Some schools offer health insurance through the school. You could check with the school she got into and see if they do this.

  • If you absolutely can't afford a regular plan for her, you can try discount plans, there are some that cover a doctor's visit a year, urgent care clinics and a discount if she should need anything more serious they aren't usually very expensive.
