  • I have heard that being too smart may be an indicator of autism. Like if they can sort by shape or color obsesivley (spelled wrong I know) it might be a sign. I'm not for sure, but that's what I've heard, and one-month olds wouldn't be sorting blocks that young lol so I know that's not it :)

  • If you're worried about autism, do lots of rocking in your arms, singing lullabies, holding eye contact with a smile while you're nursing, changing diaper. Hold him nearly ALL the time. At 3 mos or so, do pat-a-cake games, etc. ... I was amazed to read that the successful therapies they use for autistic kids have a lot of lying on a bed which rocks (to jog the brain like being carried as a baby and walked and rocked) while they hear music and see a play of colors. My simplistic thinking concludes that normal affectionate mothering - lots of relating eye-to-eye and skin contact, lots of rhythmic walking and rocking, etc. are very good for infants. ...

  • Autism signs come a bit later. One of them is an extensive vocabulary at an early age. My son had a vocabulary of about 300 words by 18 months (DH and I counted them). Turns out he has Apsergers.

  • My son holds his head up,rolls over, scoots himself like he's trying to crawl, sleeps all night and stays up all day like a big kid and like i said he's only 1 month old..!!

  • No, there is no such thing as a one month old baby being "too" advanced. Well, maybe if they take off walking! LOL

You have a strong, determined young man there. It will be interesting to see when he hits the big milestones (sitting unsupported, crawling, walking, etc)
