my problem?

okay so my dishwasher blew up. i don't mind doing dishes by hand but now that i have had the luxary of the dishwasher (which i never had before)it sucks. lol my question is since i rent is the blown up disherwasher my problem to fix or the landlords?

  • Don't try to fix it yourself (or DH). Just contact the landlord and tell him what happened. In no way should you be the one responsible to fix it or replace it.

  • Was this your dishwasher that you brought in when you moved in? If it is then it's yours to take care of. If it was then when you moved in or if the landlord had it put in while you were living there then it is his responsibility. The only expection would be if you did something to make the dishwasher "blow" up.

  • it was here when we moved in and yes i did do something to make it blow up. apparently just turning it on was enough.

  • So, you just turned it on and it blew up? If you didn't mess with it electronicly or put something in the dishwasher that wasn't suppose to go in there then you are fine. Have you told your landlord? What did he say?

  • yes i just turned it on walked away and when i went back in the kitchen it was smoking and my house smelled like when a sweeper belt breaks ya know that burnt rubber smell. i don't know anything about dishwashers. so i don't know what it could be

  • the belt could of broke on it i think they have belts on them but im not sure
