  • Apparently you aren't treating everything. ALL body hair, sheets, pillows, clothing, winter coats and hats... You're missing something somewhere!

  • Somehow, we managed to avoid lice (probably the only family on the block. Here are some remedies that I have held on to in case I need them. For prevention, mix 50% olive oil, 25% tea tree oil and 25% rosemary essential oil (you can get this at a health food store or Whole Foods); massage on scalp and leave on for 15-20 minutes. To cure, you can use mayonaise or coconut oil; put on the hair, wait about 30 minutes, and comb out with a flea comb from a pet shop; follow with the prevention spray. You will need to wash bedding, clothes, pillows, etc.
Trader Joes has a great shampoo and conditioner with tea tree oil and peppermint; these wouldn't hurt, and are great for adolescent, greasy, flakey, scalps.

  • I had lice alot when I was a kid. Like the others said...you need to clean everything! Everything with fabric(stuffed animals, bedding, even curtains.) Also...when you use the lice treatment comb through the hair. And after the treatment use Olive oil or even vegetable oil....put it all over the hair, put a plastic bag over it over night. Next morning, wash it out with dishsoap. The oil worked very well IMO. It suffocates them! Good luck!

  • My daughter had it last year. It took us months to get rid of it completely. This is what worked: Get a metal lice comb. Wash hair. Add tea tree oil to shampoo. Rinse. Put in a lot of thick conditioner. Add tea tree oil. While in the shower, comb small pieces of hair with lice comb. Keep going over and over all your hair. Rinse the comb after every stroke. Do this every day in the shower. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to everything you put on your hair (Shampoo, conditioner, sprays).
