If you saw a parent spanking there child in a store or out in public anywhere

would you say something to them? Like if you wernt a spanker yourself? Or do you just go on about your business.
Now i am talking about a couple of swats on the hiney with there hand. Obviosuly not beating the child.
One of the older gentlemen i work with was talking earlier about how he was spanking his grandaughter (she lives with them, his daughter isnt around) in walmart, and a lady told him that he could not do that and she was going to report him. He told her to go right ahead and pulled out his badge (he is a cop). Now i dont knwo what happened after that, but i just think some people try to blow things out of proportion. So would you say something or keep going about your day?

  • No I wouldn't say anything. Unless there is abuse...like beating the child then its not my business..

  • Nope.. that's their business. And it's my business too if my child is acting up and needs a swat. I hate it when outsiders interfere unless the child is really being harmed.

  • Nope, a few swats on The rear never hurt anyone. Now if he was kicking punching something like that I would intervene,

  • Depending on my mood, I might, as I walked by, say something about that being abusive and barbaric behavior. I have made those kinds of comments before.

  • I am against spanking but would not say anything unless my child was witnessing it. This has happened before, and if my child is put in fear watching someone hit their child or threatening to, then I do say something. I am not rude, I just remind them they are in public and might be scaring other children. I have never had anyone react negatively, if anything they got embarrassed. Now if I think it is excessive, I will take down their license number, description and report it. I have only had to do this one time, and the person was cussing their child out and slapped them.

  • Nope. Wouldn't say a thing, well, maybe say "thank you." Seriously, a quick swat is not going to make your turn into a serial killer or worse.

  • First, it is not my business how that mom raises her child. And second you don't know the story behind the spanking. You don't know what the kid did to receive the spanking. You don't know if the mom was pushed to the edge by repeated negative behavior. I would mind my own business.
