Do you know anything about an IEP Degree?

My brother is going to get his. Is it like a regular diploma?

  • An IEP is not a degree. It stands for Individual Educational Plan. It's for kids with ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome or any kids with a documented learning disability. It allows the teachers to make modifications to the way the kids learn. For example, both my kids are ADHD and have IEP's. They are both allowed extra time on all tests, whether they be by the teachers or state testing. Both my kids need to take test where there is an answer box on top, so if the test is fill in the blank they go to the bank of words at the top and use those words. They have recall issues. They will know the answer if they see the word but can't come up with the word themselves. Some kids have awful handwriting so they take tests on a computer.

  • Kids with just ADHD do NOT fall under the IEP. I know first hand. My son has ADHD and does not qualify. For an IEP there has to be a medical condition too. My son has an ADEP or student intervention plan.

I have never heard of an IEP degree.
