Do you need all the letters of recommendation for grad school?

I was a McNair scholar. All letters, also what job you worked while in school, and what hobbies and volunteering. Grad schools are looking well rounded people (which I really believe are the most academically talented)

I believe that the one's who learn quickest while balancing a diverse schedule.

IMO, you don't want to turn in an incomplete application. If they are asking for 4, I wouldn't submit an application without 4. I would be worried about how they would view me if I couldn't get the letters more than how they would use what the letters actually said (not that it isn't important). Go to former professors, former coworkers or bosses...people who know your work ethic. Let them know what the school is looking for, so it will help them write the letter if they are willing. I think I needed 3 for my graduate application, and I used two professors and an old boss.

I wouldn't turn in the application without the 4 letters. Even if they have to be personal references, make sure there are 4! If that's their requirement, then I doubt they will even look at someone who didn't complete the application (by having 4).

If you want to go to that school, you will need four letters of recommendation.

If it states that it as a requirement, then yes, you need them.
