Can my son go to preschool if he isn't potty trained?

He will be 4 in August and I'd like him to start preschool in the fall, but he has no desire to potty train no matter what we try. I'm afraid he won't be trained by then!

  • you'll have to ask the school...different centers/schools may have different policies.

  • Different schools have different policies.

Just a suggestion/question--have you tried putting him in regular underwear? I know my niece would NOT go on the potty if her mother had her in diapers or pull ups, but she figured it out the same day my sister put her in underwear. For this reason, when I potty trained my kids, I put them in underwear first thing.

  • We've tried underwear. He just wets himself and either asks for a change or goes and gets a pull up and clean pants himself. Being wet doesm't seem to phaze him because he knows what to do about it. I know he gets the concept of the potty very well, he just doesn't want to do it.

  • It does depend but most likely they'll want him trained. Just keep trying...I hated potty training, so frustrating.

  • our school will not take kids that are not 100% day trained. besides, what kid wants to go to school wearing a diaper - and who would even change it? it is time to buckle down and potty train him.

  • well it depends but from what i've known over the years the majority of the schools wont take them unless they are completely potty trained. i would love to jump on your case BUT
