Has anyone been to the Mayfield Dairy Farm in Athens, TN?

One of the requirements that my son has to do for Cub Scouts is to visit a dairy farm/milk processing plant. I was looking at their tour schedule and the last tour that they do is 4 pm. My son doesn't get out of school until 3:30 and it takes about an hour to get there. They do a Saturday tour but on Saturday's they don't do the ice cream production. So, if you have been here, is the ice cream production tour worth it?

  • I have not... we had one here in Ga about a hour from my house. We have lived here since I was 9 and I NEVER went. It closed this past October. I SO wish I had gotten around to taking my kids. I would have pulled my son out of school a little early to go on a day where he got to see the factory making ice cream. Without taking an over night trip.... I guess I missed my chance. So while I have never actually been... yes it is worth it.
