I have gone about twice a month for the last year (annual pass). There is sooo much to do and see. My tips would be to go online and look at the maps and showtimes, then decide what you REALLY want to do. Do not expect/try to do everything in a day, you will stress yourself out and not enjoy any of it. Get there as early as you can, and try to go during the week, weekends are packed. If you are bringing a stroller, the tram only has room for unfolded ones in the very front and back. But if you can fold it, you can sit anywhere and get in faster. You can bring food, and would advise bringing your kids favorite snacks and water.
The weather can also go from cold in the morning to hot by noon, and pretty chilly at night, so dress in layers. If you plan to be there ALL day, take advantage of lockers for your jackets, and stuff you buy, they can be opened all day and relocked.
