Why do celebrities come up with ridiculous baby names?

I know that many "unfamous" people use some crazy names too, but why it is rare to hear of a celebrity using a normal, common name? Why are they ALL so...different? Is it a rite of passage or something?

  • For the same reasons ordinary people name their kids odd names.

The attention it brings. Celebs love being in the lime light, even if it's not for something great. What's the saying? "even bad press is better than no press at all"

  • Hollywood has been doing this for years. Look at Frank Zappa's kids, Moon Unit and Dweezle. They are both in their 40's.

  • ATTENTION!

LOL, it's so funny. They act like the press is so annoying, as they try to shield their babies away from photographers. But, then they'll give their baby a crazy name that they know will be talked about. And, turn around and sell exclusive photos of the LO's to a magazine for a decent chunk of change.

  • I agree that it's for the attention. And since they are celebrities, they won't get a huge amount of criticism like a regular parent naming her child something odd.

  • I guess the attention thing makes sense. Poor kids to be the victim of their parents need for attention though! But then again I guess it doesn't matter much if your mom/dad is __________.
