How much milk should a 3 and 5 year old drink each day?

  • To clarify - more than three servings a day of dairy can leach iron and other nutrients from the body. Plant based calcium is absorbed much better than diary based.

  • Technically speaking, only infants NEED milk. Dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, etc. are enough dairy if your child already eats them.

  • It's not really how much milk as much as it is how much calcium and vit. D do they need a day. With children I believe it is somewhere around 800mg a day. So like 3 glasses of milk or so. But if they are eating other sources of calcium and vit. D it isn't necessary to have any at all.

    They should be drinking plenty of water, and eating a variety of healthy foods. they should not have more than three servings of dairy, and two or less would be best.

  • I would rather have my child drink to much milk then to much juice, soda or cool-aid.
