2 Bumps

I need weight loss help!

My youngest is now 18 months and I have not lost a pound! I am so frustrated. I have tried different workout methods, I eat fairly healthy, but as a sah I find myself snacking a lot. I have a terrible time limiting my eating. Has anyone ha luck with a supplement that curbs the appetite? I really need some type of jump start. I want to be healthy for my kids and need to drop 20-30 lbs to hit a healthy bmi. Any help would be wonderful.

  • Also, you have to change your stinkin thinkin! Read your response, "it's really bad and I just can't seem to control it....I will eat the fruits and veggies and then bake brownies"!!!! WHAT?!?! You mean to tell me that your hands and arms are out of your control and that they just go to work making brownies WITHOUT your permission!!!! That's horrible!
Really though, you DO have the control. You just haven't made up your mind fully that you want the weight loss more than you do the brownies. Next time your arms and hand want to start making brownies, grab the kids and go for a long, brisk walk outside for 30-60 minutes. Break a sweat! Then convince yourself you want to eat the calories you just worked so hard to burn.
Also, cut out "sweets" and refined sugar and refined processed foods entirely. Do that for 1 month and your sweet tooth will diminish to next to nothing. Then you just have to break the emotional ties to sweets

  • Tons of water and a 30 min walk every day would make a huge difference.

  • When our sons were young, I had to lose weight as well. So when DH got home from work, I had dinner made for him and the boys and while they ate, I would go for a brisk walk.
I cut out all sweets, salty snacks and quit eating/snacking after 7:00 p.m.
Water was my drink of choice and still is.
I lost 30lbs by summer. I started walking in Jan. You'd be amazed how much weight you can lose by walking and being a sahm it helps clear your head of all your stresses too :)

  • Lose 1 pound, 30 times:) It's hard to be a sahm and not eat all day. Cleaning and organizing helps keep me busy. Like PMSmom said, walking does wonders, even for your mental health. Make sure you only buy healthy foods to snack on, and keep a veggie and fruit tray in the fridge so when you reach for something to eat, it will be good for you and boost your weight loss. I used to buy veggies a lot with the intention of eating them but they would go bad, so it helps to chop them up right away. Water is another HUGE help. Drink tons of it, and your body will get clear hunger signals instead of confusing them with thirst or dehydration. You can do this! It's really not that hard after you get started:)

  • Just a thought, when I was on anti-depressants, I could not get enough sugar. It was worse than a crack addiction I swear! Are you taking any meds that could be causing this?

  • I have tried most of this stuff but I have a horrible sweet tooth. I will eat the fruit and veggies and then bake brownies. It's really bad and I just can't seem to control it. I don't let my kids eat like I do at all. I have tons of control instilling healthy eating in them. Ahhhh! So frustrated.

  • I agree with the ladies above. Get out and get moving and drink more water (Minimum 1/2 your body weight in oz EVERY day... 150lbs = 75oz water at minimum/day). The exercise programs probably haven't worked because you probably didn't (A) do them consistently 3-5x per week EVERY week or (B) did give them time to work. Nothing is magic, weightloss does not happen quickly, even though we want it to. You have to stick with whatever you choose and give it at least 2 months of commitment before you decide it "doesn't work". If you do this you'll know if it's the program that "doesn't work" or if it's you not working the program.

  • I am not on any meds. I have an IUD and take multivitamins.

  • Ok, just checking. The IUD shouldn't have anything to do with it:)

  • I am not gaining weight. I just can't lose any. I completed my first non-soda day today. That was a first in several months. I am going to work on my attitude next. Thanks everyone for the input!
