My Ds has done terrible on EVERY spelling test ALL year. We keep changing up how he studies and how much. We do the teacher assigned things ( copy words, write words 3 times, make words out of playdough, write word pyramids....) We have tried to teach him 'tricks' we found a website called spellingcity.com he plays with. We try verbal test. Flash cards.... OMG! He is still failing test. WE have been working on his words for 2 hours this afternoon both in games and test. He is still missing about 1/2 of them. any ideas? He has Asperger's if that means anything. I don't think it does.. I could be wrong.
Answer QuestionI don't know very much about Asperger's, so sorry if this is a dumb answer, but is it possible he has some other learning disability? Like dyslexia maybe? I've never had to deal with it so I apologize in advance if I'm way off here.

I don't have any advice other than to tell you, I know exactly how you feel. We are going through the exact same thing. Jeremy has his first spelling test tomorrow and despite the hours he has spent studying, he is not ready. I asked a similar question the other day and got lots of good advice. I will post the link.
