I think I started my period...(post-partum question)

I'm not sure though. I had my baby about 2 1/2 wks ago. Is it too early to start my period? I had 3rd degree tearing and lots and lots of stitches, but my bleeding has slowed way down in the past week, but today I have been bleeding quite a bit more than what I have been. I don't FEEL like I'm on my period, but I was just wondering, do you think it's still just my uterus cleaning out, or do you think I started?

I don't know anything about this crap....

  • Have you upped your activity any in the past few days? I went on a cleaning spree and that night my blood turned bright red.

I wouldn't be too terribly concerned if you're not running a fever and you're not soaking through a pad within one hour. Those are usually signs of hemhorraging or incomplete placenta removal. I think you probably wouldn't start your period until at least four weeks postpartum. If it doesn't slow down again, you should probably call your doctor and let them know. My bleeding went back to normal overnight and I'm just fine, so maybe you're going through the same sort of thing as long as you're not sick.

  • Yeah it's bright red. I've ripped my stitches before, but it doesn't feel like that's what I did this time (though I could have). What would that mean ckmom0612?
