A thought process that goes no where

I've come to the conclusion after some time of personal reflection, research and patience that religion is just not doing it anymore and there is no reason for me to follow any of it.

I was hopeful but it seems to be the contention to so many evils. I know what type of person I am and who I am today has nothing to do with any kind of God or religion. I've been reading and searching for answers and I've come up empty to many times. I need something more concrete other than what pretentious warm and fuzzies religion can give me.

Also I've learned a lot after visiting the RD board here and a lot of you moms have the right idea. You can be a good, moral standing, nurturing, loving person without believing in a higher power or deity. I've seen the evidence of a lot of open mindedness that those who are bogged down by religion don't have and how welcoming you all of everybody. You do not judge people for what religion they are just by the person they are.

  • Kudos to you on finding what works best for you! And remember, you don't HAVE to "label" yourself as anything either. Religion or not, simply be yourself and let that do the speaking.

  • All that matters is that you find what is right for you, whatever that means, and I'm glad you seem to be doing that. :)

  • I think you have to listen to your heart for your spiritual path. If religion doesnt speak to you....than you find what does. you just have to listen. I wish you luck on finding what your heart is telling you(if you haven't found it yet).
I am an atheist, and couln' be happier since I begain listening to my own spiritual path. I walk it proudly and with peace!

Oh, I agree. Life's not just about the destination, it's about the journey. Our paths aren't just arrivals, but the course along the way. As long as you are staying true to yourself your path will lead you to wherever you are meant to be. Being in Limbo means that at least you're searching, you're focused on your path, on where YOU need to be, and you'll know what it is whenever you find it. It's much better to be in Limbo, in the state of searching, than it is to be stuck in a path that isn't right for you with no attempts at change, IMO at least, lol. :)

  • I'm in limbo too. But, there is something liberating about being in a constant state of limbo, it means you are always open to change.

  • I've been there. Best of luck to you on your journey.

A little warning tho. Not everyone in real life may be so accommodating to your new path. A lot of us can tell you stories about family and long time friends rejecting them for leaving their religion.

  • Be grateful that it didn't take you 30 years to discover what you WEREN'T and 10 more to find out what you WERE. I am a happy atheist now but I wasted half my life trying to be something I couldn't be. Not many of the christo-slaves here at cafemom believe it but the difference is like night and day. I'm not an angry, frightened hypocrite anymore. I am still an honest one--and maybe that's where the misconception comes from. Trust in your strength and courage. You are capable of amazing things--and gods don't have anything to do with those things. Blessed be. Find your own inner goddess. Let go of fear. You have a great journey ahead.
