is it normal for breastmilk to smell metallic when defrosted from the freezer.

mine has a weird smell and tastes like sucking asprin or licking nickels!!!?

  • It could be just a high lipase level. Breastmilk is ALWAYS better for your baby.

  • Its not suppose to be like that, DO NOT give it to the baby!

  • Usualy a metalic taste or smell is caused by too much iron, this is not good. Talk to your OBGYN and your baby's doctor.

    I am thinking this is a very common thing. I only stored my milk in the fridge temporarily, never frozen...so I haven't dealt with this.

  • I freeze my milk and it never has smelt different from when its fresh. The color varies from bluish to greenish but that is normal.
