2 Bumps

Citalopram (celexa)

Have any of the moms been on this for anxiety my doctor has given me this along with xanex to use until celexa kicks in! How long did it take for it to kick in? Did you still have to take the xanex? Were there any side effects from taking the xanex while taking the celexa? Sorry so many questions just curious how well this worked for someone else!

  • OP...I tried celexa and it did the same thing to me as it did to butterfly. As for xanax, its great for the panic attacks, buts its short acting, which ups the addiction factor. My doctor put me on klonopin and Prozac. I was on klonopin until the prozac kicked in which was about 2 weeks. Klonopin is ion the same class as xanax, except klonopin is longer acting. I had panic attacks so bad that at times I felt I couldn't swallow which amped up the feeling on panic. These 2 meds helped me out tremendously!

  • I take lexapro its very similar to celexa. I happy with it,no problems with my sex drive. With SSRIs everyone responds differently. What works for you may not work for someone else. Xanax just made me tired.  I've heard a lot of good things about klonopin for anxiety. GL.

  • I don't remember the no sex drive thing but it made me feel like I was on crack. I was jumpy and hyper all the time. You should look for other routes for dealing with whatever your issue is. A pill doesn't solve the problem.

  • I have been taking Celexa for 2 years, now. I am only on 20mg a day, and it's enough for me. I take it for mild anxiety and depression. Yes, I have a low sex drive, but I have always been that way even off of any meds. Every person is different. Have your doctor think of adding Wellbutrin along with the Celexa. It will help with sex drive problem a bit.
